Script: Sending Emails In Unix Using Sendmail

Free download

Posted by: Informatica Professional Services

The script will enable you to send emails using Sendmail in the Unix environment.

Sendmail is a general purpose internetwork email routing facility that supports many kinds of mail-transfer and delivery methods, including the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) used for email transport over the Internet.

When a customer is moving from Windows to Unix / Linux, it is useful to create an artifact that is able to mimic the Windows IIS functionality in Unix/Linux. (As how the emails are sent using Microsoft IIS where you can put a file in c:\\Inetpub\\Pickup folder and that file sent by the mail).

We can attach this script to a workflow scheduled every minute/day/week and it sends mail as how IIS works.

Note: User needs to configure \"sendmail\" command in the environment.
