Data Quality Mapplet to validate credit card numbers using Luhn algorithm.

Overview

Validates credit card numbers for credit cards that use the Luhn algorithm. The Luhn algorithm or Luhn formula, also known as the "modulus 10" or "mod 10" algorithm, is a simple checksum formula used to validate a variety of identification numbers, such as credit card numbers. The algorithm is in the public domain and is in wide use today.


Credit cards that use the Luhn algorithm. includes, but is not limited to, the following credit cards:

  • American Express
  • Diners Club Carte Blanche
  • Diners Club International
  • Diners Club US & Canada
  • Discover Card
  • JCB   
  • Maestro
  • Master Card
  • Solo
  • Switch
  • Visa
  • Visa Electron

This rule returns "Valid" or "Invalid."
